35 Million Drams to be Confiscated from Vladimir Gasparyan: Details

The former head of the Armenian police, Vladimir Gasparyan, will have 35 million drams confiscated in favor of the Republic of Armenia, following a court ruling that has gained legal force.

On June 1, 2020, Vladimir Gasparyan was charged under part 1 of point 3 of Article 179 of the Criminal Code for embezzlement on a particularly large scale, as well as under part 2 of Article 308 for abuse of official authority under aggravating circumstances (each with two episodes).

On June 24 of the same year, the prosecutor submitted a bill of indictment to the first instance general jurisdiction court of Yerevan regarding the separated part of the criminal case. The prosecutor also filed a civil lawsuit against defendants Vladimir Gasparyan, Levon Yeranosyan, Vardan Tunyan, and Gurgen Grigoryan.

The lawsuit demanded the confiscation of 35 million 200 thousand drams from Vladimir Gasparyan, 6 million 513 thousand drams from Vardan Tunyan, and jointly from Levon Yeranosyan, Vardan Tunyan, and Gurgen Grigoryan the confiscation of 7 million 954 thousand drams.
