Court Terminates Proceedings in Onik Gasparyan vs. Armen Sarkissian and Nikol Pashinyan Case

The Administrative Court, presided over by Judge Mher Petrosyan, has terminated the proceedings in the case of former Chief of the General Staff of the RA Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan against President Armen Sarkissian and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. It is worth recalling that Onik Gasparyan had submitted three applications to the Administrative Court against President Armen Sarkissian and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, challenging the legality of the decision to dismiss him from the position of Chief of General Staff.

One of the applications was assigned to Administrative Court Judge Mher Petrosyan, who faced pressure measures after the decision to accept the application into proceedings was made. Following the uploading of the mentioned decision into the judicial information system, the head of the internal security department of the NSS, Hrayr Avetisyan, along with another employee, rushed to the Administrative Court in an attempt to meet with the judge before he could address the application for interim measures.

The judge refused to meet with the NSS employees and informed the Supreme Judicial Council about their visit. However, the judge discussed the lawyers' motion and decided to apply interim measures, which meant that Onik Gasparyan was to continue his duties until the court made a final decision on the case. Nevertheless, the judicial act was never enforced. Furthermore, a representative of Nikol Pashinyan had requested the termination of the interim measure, which was rejected.
