Two Arrested for Attempting to Pay with Counterfeit Bills

On November 1st, a taxi driver who called the operational management center of the Ararat Police reported that customers at a restaurant complex on the Yerevan-Yeraskh highway had attempted to pay with counterfeit bills. This information was provided by the RA Police.

The report was forwarded to the Community Police Department of Artashat, and an operational group, including patrol officers from the region, was dispatched.

As a result of operational and investigative measures, the identities of the passengers were established: two men, aged 33 and 32, from Artashat and the village of Vostan. According to the driver, they attempted to pay him with 20,000 and 50,000 dram bills, which he refused upon realizing they were counterfeit.

At 20:25, the men were located and arrested near the village of Dimitrov along the Yerevan-Yeraskh road and were taken to the Artashat precinct. A search of the 32-year-old man revealed two 20,000 dram counterfeit bills and three 10,000 dram counterfeit bills, as well as a knife with a hidden lock.

The documents have been sent to the Ararat regional investigative department. The circumstances of the case are being clarified.
