Cyber Police Warns About New Fraud Scheme

The Cyber Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia informs that unknown individuals are calling citizens, identifying themselves as employees of the National Security Service (NSS) or various banks, and asking them to withdraw money from their bank accounts and transfer it to the provided account number for various reasons.

The Cyber Police warns of a new type of fraud scheme. Unknown individuals, impersonating NSS or employees of the Central and other banks, convince citizens to withdraw money from their bank accounts and transfer it to the specified account number for various pretexts.

The fraudsters may also request citizens to take a photo of a QR code from ATMs that provide cryptocurrency services and send it to them. The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges citizens to never engage in such actions.

It is also noted that the Cyber Crime Department of the Criminal Police is collaborating with SkyLabs, a company providing cryptocurrency terminal services. As a result of this cooperation, frauds conducted through terminals will be prevented, and any funds entered cannot be utilized by the criminals.
