Decision Made to Arrest Gevorg Nersisyan, Brother of Garegin II, and His Son: Lawyer

A video confirms the obvious false accusation. In the consolidated community of Vagharchapat, the candidate from the "Republic" party, Harutyun Mkrtchyan, posted on his Facebook page that on November 1 at approximately 4:10 PM, Gevorg Nersisyan, the brother of the Catholicos, allegedly obstructed electoral campaigning with his sons.

This was reported by lawyer Ara Zohrebian: "Today, the investigative body has made a decision to arrest 68-year-old Gevorg Nersisyan and his son, Hambardzum Nersisyan, for the purpose of confinement. The Nersisyans are accused of committing acts of hooliganism and obstructing campaigning. In reality, there isn’t even an incident resembling a crime. Here’s how the incident unfolded: On November 1 at about 2:40 PM, Hambardzum was standing in front of his home gate when a man approached him and invited him to participate in a Republic party meeting at 4 PM. Hambardzum declined, and the man attempted to persuade him, they talked, and then Gevorg Nersisyan, Hambardzum's father, approached them. The three spoke and parted peacefully. All of this is recorded on video. You can see for yourself that there is no conflict in the footage. This meeting took place in front of the Nersisyans' house, well before the Republic Party’s electoral meeting.

Dear investigators, I urge you brotherly not to let the reputation and achievements of your organization be destroyed. It is unacceptable to imprison individuals based on such false accusations. All of this is temporary," wrote the lawyer.
