David Harutyunyan Demands Restoration of Judge Position

Suspended judge David Harutyunyan has submitted a request to the Supreme Judicial Council, demanding a review and annulment of the Council's decision on July 3, 2023, which terminated his powers, as well as the decision not to review it made in 2024. He is requesting to be reinstated in his position as a judge. This information was provided to «Factinfo» directly by David Harutyunyan.

The basis of the petition submitted to the Council is a ruling from the Constitutional Court, which recorded violations of David Harutyunyan’s rights for the second time.

It should be noted that David Harutyunyan's powers were terminated by the Council on July 3, 2023. The disciplinary proceedings against the judge were initiated by the Ministry of Justice of Armenia after a press briefing held with journalists on April 7, the day of the General Assembly of Judges. On that day, the election of a judge-member of the Council was on the agenda. The previous day, a statement released through the press secretary of then-President Karen Andreasyan was effectively viewed as an attempt to interfere with the judges' election.
