Proposal to Make Support Program for Children Up to 6 Permanent Benefit: Torosyan
The one-time benefit for the birth of all children will be equalized and set at 500,000 drams. This was announced by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Arsen Torosyan, during the joint session of the permanent committees of the National Assembly, in the preliminary discussions on the draft law on the "2026 State Budget of the Republic of Armenia," responding to the questions of the deputies.
Torosyan mentioned the support program for the third and subsequent children in terms of promoting birth rates. "We will likely soon send a draft law to the National Assembly, proposing to make the support program that provides a payment of 50,000 drams for the third and subsequent children until the age of 6 a permanent benefit," he stated.
According to him, studies on the system of poverty show that a significant portion of families with four or more children, and those with five or more children, receive poverty benefits. "In the legislative package, we will propose to equalize the one-time birth benefit for all children, making it 500,000 drams for everyone, instead of the previous amounts of 300,000 drams for the first and second children," the minister said.
Currently, the one-time birth benefit is 300,000 drams for the first and second children, and 1 million drams for the third and fourth children. If a family has a fifth child or any subsequent children, the benefit amounts to 1.5 million drams.
