Russia Opposes NATO Expansion in Eurasia, Lavrov Says

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at the third Minsk International Conference dedicated to Eurasian security issues that Moscow cannot accept the transformation of Eurasia into a zone of NATO influence.

During the conference held on October 28–29 in the capital of Belarus, Lavrov emphasized that Russia is firmly against NATO's expansion in Eurasia. “Do we want our vast and beautiful continent to become NATO's property? We can never agree to such a situation,” Lavrov remarked.

According to him, the security challenges facing Eurasian countries require not divisions and military bloc mentalities but cooperation based on mutual respect and equality.

The third Minsk International Conference brings together representatives, experts, and politicians from various countries to discuss current regional and global security issues.
