Resolution of Power-Church Relations Seen Through the Humility of Authority: Hayk Mamikjanyan
Armenian National Assembly member and leader of the 'Hayastan' faction Hayk Mamikjanyan has stated that while he does not wish to politicize faith, he believes that the government should approach the church with humility.
In response to a journalist’s question regarding a potential resolution of power-church relations, Mamikjanyan declared that the issue should be resolved through the humility of the government. “As a follower of the Armenian Apostolic Church, I am not fond of discussions related to faith in political processes, but I am compelled to do so. How I envision a resolution is through the humility of authority. I cannot quite imagine any other interaction with the Church other than humility,” stated the MP.
Mamikjanyan’s remarks came at a time when the topics of state-church relations and the various political and social assessments surrounding them are being actively discussed.
