Increase in Economic Growth Expected in Early Next Year, Says Papoyan
The planning of the 2026 state budget serves as a great opportunity to evaluate previous and current economic developments. This was stated by the Minister of Economy of Armenia, Gevorg Papoyan, during a joint session of the National Assembly's committees on economic issues and financial, credit, and budgetary matters, regarding the preliminary discussion of the draft law on the "State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2026."
According to the minister, the real GDP growth for 2024 was recorded at 5.9 percent, and in the first half of 2025, the growth compared to the same period in 2024 stood at 5.6 percent. "The developments are moving in a positive direction. Between January and September 2025, the economic activity index compared to the same period last year was 7.6 percent, with the most recent month recording 10.5 percent. This indicates the effectiveness of the Government's economic policy and provides a basis to assume that we will record higher economic growth than planned in the budget," emphasized Papoyan.
He stated that the ministry's goal is to ensure a higher economic growth than is outlined in the state budget, and that improved indicators can be expected by the end of the year or at the beginning of next year.
