A Center for Crime Statistics Will Be Established in the Ministry of Internal Affairs
According to the "Fact" newspaper, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is proposing amendments and changes to the Prime Minister's decision No. 270-L dated March 14, 2023.
Currently, there is an information center operating within the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs which primarily conducts state registrations. It manages various databases concerning wanted individuals, missing persons, convicts, stolen items, vehicles, and others.
As per the proposed project, a new main professional subdivision titled the “Center for Crime Statistics and Research” is set to be created within the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The center will be responsible for recording crimes and administrative violations, collecting and analyzing the necessary data to prevent such incidents.
Additionally, the institution will form unified national databases, publish official statistics, forecast criminal situations, and organize thematic studies. The newly established center will have national significance by summarizing and standardizing data from law enforcement agencies. It will enhance the efficiency of the law enforcement system and facilitate data digitization, providing a deeper analysis of crime dynamics.
