Kocharian's Defenders Again Submitted a Motion to the Court

During the hearing on December 3 in the case of Robert Kocharian and others, the court, presided over by Judge Anna Danibekyan, examined the question raised by Kocharian's defenders regarding their motion. The defenders had previously requested in September to discuss the release of the preventive measure and to terminate the criminal prosecution.

Defender Hayk AlumyAn asked the court to hold another hearing this week to discuss the motion, as he had information indicating that the judge would be going on vacation. According to AlumyAn, under the law, when a judge is on vacation and there is an accused person in custody, the case should be examined with particular urgency.

Judge Danibekyan confirmed that the court would be on vacation from December 10-30, and subsequent hearings would be held in January 2020. Ultimately, the court granted the defenders time to present the motion at the current hearing. AlumyAn requested a break to allow them to discuss their decision, as they were not adequately prepared for that option. The court then adjourned the session.

After the break, Karen Mejlumyan, the defender of Seyran Ohanyan, expressed the intention to present a motion. The court granted him the opportunity to submit the motion.
