Turkey Establishes Contact with Montenegro Regarding Citizen Safety Issues
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that it has established contact with Montenegrin authorities following disturbances in Podgorica and the detention of Turkish citizens. According to Ankara's statement, all necessary measures are being taken to ensure their safety.
Earlier, the Montenegrin police reported that 45 citizens from Turkey and Azerbaijan had been taken to a police station in Podgorica to verify their legal status in the country. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with an attack on a local resident.
“The incidents that occurred in Montenegro last weekend also involved our citizens. Immediately after the events, we established contact with official representatives and took necessary steps to ensure the safety of our citizens,” the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
