Man Accused of Poisoning Wife with Cyanide After She Requested Divorce in the US
In a tragic incident in Long Island, New York, police have uncovered a serious case involving 53-year-old Asif Qureshi, who is accused of murdering his wife, 46-year-old Alina Asif.
According to preliminary investigation details, the man attacked his wife after she received divorce papers. On the morning of the incident, Qureshi had taken their children to school and upon returning home, committed the crime.
Authorities have determined that the woman died from asphyxiation caused by a chemical substance, which experts believe is similar to cyanide. Alina had previously filed for divorce, but the couple had reconciled temporarily. This year, she decided to separate again, prompting aggressive behavior from her husband, who had a history of domestic violence complaints against him.
Following a court ruling, Asif Qureshi will remain in custody without the right to bail. The couple’s three children are now under the care of relatives.
