Putin Told Me, 'It Was Amazing, Everyone Tried to Reach It, But They Couldn’t': Trump on Armenia and Azerbaijan

US President Donald Trump has stated that he is open to meeting again with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, but only if he is confident that an agreement will be reached to end the war in Ukraine.

Recently, Trump canceled a meeting with Putin that was scheduled to take place in Budapest. Media reports cited Russia's unchanged stance on stopping the war as the reason, while the US leader himself has stated that he does not wish to have a meeting that would prove fruitless.

Today, reporters asked Trump what Russia needs to do for him to finally meet with Putin. In response, the US president said, “We have to be sure that we can reach an agreement. And I’m not going to waste my time for nothing. I’ve always had a good relationship with Vladimir Putin, but this was very disappointing,” Trump said.

He added that he had hoped the war in Ukraine would end before peace was established in the Middle East. In this context, the White House leader referred to Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“It was very difficult. Putin told me on the phone, ‘It was amazing. Everyone tried to reach it, but they couldn’t. And you did it.’ There were other cases, if you look at India and Pakistan. I can say that almost all the deals I have made, in my opinion, were more difficult than the ones negotiated with Russia and Ukraine. But everything turned out differently,” the American leader said.

Trump also reiterated that there is immense hatred between the leaders of countries, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
