Minister Confirms Design of Biometric Identification Card

On October 24, under the leadership of Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sarkisyan, a working discussion was held regarding the ongoing efforts to issue new biometric passports and identification cards in Armenia. Minister Sarkisyan confirmed the final appearance of the identification card, including background artistic solutions, security components, and data fields. The entire endeavor has been conducted in accordance with the relevant ICAO standards.

Experts from the company 'PixArt,' which provides consultancy for the passport design process, presented various conceptual approaches to the visuals of the visa pages. Partners from 'HayPass' showcased both ongoing and completed works, particularly discussing the construction progress of the new headquarters of the Migration and Citizenship Service, where the staff of a private partner, as well as a data center, will also be located. The issues of the geographical network of regional offices and modernization programs were also addressed.

According to the planned program, two extensive offices will be established in Yerevan, situated in accessible and busy areas for citizens, equipped with modern technology and self-service devices for collecting vital data in a 'one-stop' setup, along with furnished waiting areas and other office conditions compliant with international standards. Additionally, 21-22 more offices will be opened in the regions with similar furnishings and equipment. The proposed solutions will also be implemented in the MCP offices; security and technological solutions for documents have been presented, emphasizing the urgency of implementing corresponding changes in the legal framework regulating the sector.
