New Charges to Be Presented Against Vardan Ghukasian, Lawyer Says

New charges are set to be presented against Vardan Ghukasian. This was announced by the lawyer of the Gyumri mayor, Zarouhi Postanjyan.

“I had a phone conversation with the investigator of the RA Investigative Committee, Gagik Arakelyan, who informed me that new charges are expected to be filed against Mr. Vardan Ghukasian. It is unclear what they want to weave or patch up again, but nonetheless, I warn the investigators of the Investigative Committee: if you enter the ‘Central’ penitentiary institution and carry out any actions with my client without my or Ghukasian’s lawyers present, we will consider it as coercion against Ghukasian. Since you are informed that at this moment, I and the lawyers chosen by Ghukasian are in Gyumri and must participate in the court session, therefore our absence is justified,” stated Postanjyan.
