Armenia is My Homeland: I Have Memories, Says Milli Mejlis MP
The Azerbaijani Milli Mejlis MP Hikmet Babaoğlu has made a provocative statement. In an interview with Modern.az, he claimed that the territories of Armenia allegedly belong to Azerbaijan. This was reported by Хроника Кавказа.
“Armenia is my homeland. This is the place where I was born, grew up, studied, and which has been my home. The fact that the country is called Armenia does not change the reality; this geographical area belongs to us. I have memories associated with every centimeter of Armenia's Amasia region (currently Shirak province). I want to physically touch these memories again, to once more see the great material and cultural heritage left to us by our ancestors. That is why I am glad to travel to Armenia,” stated the Azerbaijani parliamentarian.
“However, speaking about relations with representatives of the people living in our historical lands, as our president has noted, we can build any economic and trade ties, but we must never forget the crimes committed by Armenians against the Azerbaijani people,” the MP added.
Notably, the Azerbaijani Modern.az website has deleted the October 22 post in which MP Hikmet Babaoğlu stated that the entire territory of present-day Armenia belongs to Azerbaijan.
