You Keep Freedom for Yourselves, Give Death to the People: Konyoryan
Mr. Minasian, you ask if the self-determination of nations is any less important than territorial integrity? Are you honest? If self-determination was important, wasn’t Artsakh already determined when you went to negotiate and agreed that there should be a referendum within an agreed timeframe with Azerbaijan? If Artsakh was, in your opinion, self-determined, what was the talk of a referendum during your negotiations? Who is denying what now? This was stated from the podium of the National Assembly by the leader of the ‘Civil Contract’ parliamentary group, Hayk Konyoryan, addressing the remarks of opposition MP Artzvik Minasian.
Regarding the Federation, he suggested reflecting on one of its slogans: ‘Death or Freedom’. What does this slogan mean? For example, what is political freedom for the state? Sovereignty. Sovereignty has its attributes, such as recognized borders. But the Federation's circular 004 states that we do not need recognized borders, which means that the Federation is against political freedom, does not accept freedom as a political principle, that is, there is no freedom in the ‘Death or Freedom’ ideology. The Federation is based on the idea of death,” the MP pointed out, noting that this way the Federation becomes a party of death.
The issue is that you keep freedom for yourselves, while giving death to the people. For the Federation, that is what ‘Death or Freedom’ means: freedom for you, death for the people,” stated Hayk Konyoryan.
