Who Are the Arrested Officials of the Gyumri Municipality

According to information from "Haykakan Zaman" (Armenian Time), several officials from the Gyumri municipality have been arrested, including the acting head specialists of the Education Department, Anahit Gasparyan, Bela Avagyan, and the acting leading specialist, Varduhi Piloyan.

It should be noted that during the preliminary investigation of a criminal case initiated by the Shirak Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee, evidence surfaced indicating that officials from the Gyumri municipality had instructed a number of employees to direct the directors of kindergartens under their supervision to send the children home and go directly to the municipality with their staff, thereby preventing the arrest of the community leader.

As a result of such instructions, many directors of kindergartens ceased their work and, along with their staff, arrived in the vicinity of the municipality and joined the participants of the gathering.

During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, public criminal prosecution has been initiated against four individuals under part 2 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code (obstructing or coercing the holding of a gathering or participation in it, as well as material incentivizing to participate or refrain from participating in a gathering) and under point 1 of part 2 of Article 486 (encouraging the interference with the administration of justice or the examination of a case by a group of individuals with prior agreement).
