Those Who Broke Their Covenant with God Continue to Serve in the Church, says Defrocked Father Aram

I have no intention of leaving the church; I am determined to continue my priesthood. This was stated today by defrocked priest Father Aram during a conversation with journalists at the site of the Hovhannavank Church.

According to him, if the law is in effect in the church, then before defrocking him, those who committed unlawful acts in spiritual life should have been defrocked.

“If I had seen that those people who, after breaking their covenant with God, were no longer continuing their priesthood, maybe I would have taken off my robe and left the church. But before defrocking Father Aram, you know how many people were here before me who have been rebellious, have broken their covenant with God, and today continue to serve in the church. The people know them as someone who has not been defrocked, they receive communion from them. Meanwhile, Father Aram, who simply raised his voice regarding the negative occurrences within the church and disagreed with them, in their eyes, I am no longer a priest…”
