There is a wave of dissatisfaction in the police force: "Zhoghovurd"

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that in recent months, serious internal tensions and dissatisfaction have been observed within the police system. The issue lies in the fact that the Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, who is responsible for the formulation of the system's policies, possesses theoretical knowledge, and at times, does not fully understand practical policing, leading to a clash between theory and practice within the system.

The minister is knowledgeable, well-read, and has a solid grasp of theory, but police officers are struggling to apply the theories as envisioned in practical terms. According to sources from the newspaper, several senior officers publicly express that the current situation in the system is unbearable, making it difficult for them to work. They are dissatisfied not only with their working conditions but also with the nature of their work, which has become politicized and ineffective.

According to the same sources, police officers are often forced to act not based on professional obligations but rather on the directives of political authorities, specifically the public statements of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, social media posts, or even sent written instructions.

“We are doing everything to execute the tasks assigned from above, to combat crime, but as a result, neither the government nor society is satisfied,” senior representatives of the police state in private conversations with 'Zhoghovurd'. Meanwhile, official statistics also indicate that the situation in the system shows no signs of improvement. According to the data published by the National Statistical Committee, between 2018 and 2024, the total number of crimes increased by about 63 percent, while crimes against individuals rose by 50 percent. This, according to experts, is a serious signal indicating deep-rooted management and efficacy issues within the law enforcement system.

In such conditions, some senior officials of the police are reportedly discussing the option of leaving the system. “Many can no longer work complacently, as they feel that the results do not justify the efforts,” a source from the newspaper reports.
