The former Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, has confessed to receiving illegal income during an interrogation. This was announced at a press conference by the Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency under the State Security Service, Emzar Gagniyze.

“Today, former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili was interrogated at the Anti-Corruption Agency under the State Security Service. He is fully cooperating with the investigation and has confessed to receiving illegal income over several years,” said Gagniyze.

According to Gagniyze, in the coming days, the investigative body will determine how to classify Garibashvili's actions and what pre-trial measures to take against him.

Earlier, the Chief Prosecutor's Office of Georgia reported on searches conducted at the homes of Garibashvili, former head of the State Security Service Grigol Liluashvili, and former Chief Prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze, as well as eight other individuals connected with them.

Subsequently, the State Security Service reported that more than $7 million, 198 valuable items and watches, valuable canvases, thousands of pages of documents, 50 mobile phones, and 119 electronic devices had been seized from the homes of former officials and their family members.
