A New Phase of Peace Has Begun Between Azerbaijan and Armenia: Aliyev
A new phase of peace has begun between Azerbaijan and Armenia, announced Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev during a meeting with Tokayev.
Aliyev stated at the second session of the Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental High Council held in Astana that the countries are demonstrating a high level of political will less than two years after the last clashes.
“The outcome of the preliminary signing of a peace agreement just two years after the last clashes speaks to the fact that both countries have exhibited a considerable level of political will. Of course, the role of U.S. President Donald Trump in resolving the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia deserves the highest commendation. The summit that took place on August 8 in Washington has essentially put an end to a long-standing conflict and opens up significant prospects for development, including within a broader regional context in the Eurasian continent,” he noted.
