Zelensky Confirms Witkoff Called for Withdrawal of Troops from Donbas

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that U.S. President's Special Envoy Witkoff has called for the withdrawal of troops from Donbas to end the war.

“The Russians claim to have ‘held a referendum’ in Donbas, suggesting they want to join Russia. However, ten years have passed since the beginning of the occupation and the so-called referendum. Mr. Witkoff says this is included in Russia's Constitution. Therefore, I explained to Mr. Witkoff once again that if tomorrow Putin introduces something else, after the end of this or that stage of the war, we will again have to withdraw from some territory. And if I were to include, for example, two regions of the Russian Federation in the Constitution of Ukraine, they would withdraw from those territories. This is a non-working model,” said Zelensky.
