Response of the 'Our Way' Movement to the Detention of Ruben Mkrtchyan
Videos have surfaced online showing the detention of Ruben Mkrtchyan, a member of the 'Our Way' movement and a lawyer. The 'Our Way' movement released a statement regarding this incident.
“One of the videos shows law enforcement officials, particularly a group of uniformed police and black berets, using brute force against citizens by forcibly dragging and throwing them to the ground. As a lawyer (member of the Bar Association), Ruben Mkrtchyan attempts to respond to this situation and provide legal assistance to the citizens being subjected to violence. As a result, Mkrtchyan himself has found himself in a position of being detained.
In the video, his words can be heard directed at the police detaining him, stating, ‘they were beating up seven people... (referring to the police assaulting the citizens).’ In another video, we see Mkrtchyan surrounded by police, with his hands raised. It is evident that law enforcement has unlawfully detained Ruben Mkrtchyan, most likely following and acting upon political orders,” the statement reads.
