Avinyan on Reconstruction Projects for Emergency Buildings in Yerevan
The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, has addressed the reconstruction project for 4th category emergency buildings located at Arzumanyan 10 and 17. He noted that the city administration is not legally obligated to take action, but the program is being implemented to ensure the safety of residents.
“In a 4th category emergency building, apartments and public spaces are worth 0 dram, as they are at risk of collapse,” Avinyan stated. He reminded that the city administration has offered residents a relocation program, under which new buildings will be constructed at these addresses, and residents will be provided with new apartments.
“Zero dram should transform into an apartment, and all those who obstruct through legal processes need to recognize their responsibility,” he said.
Avinyan indicated that he is not interested in the reasons for the rejection of complaints, whether they are technical or otherwise. He emphasized that residents may not fully understand the danger of collapse. “What will happen in the end, what do they envision? What are we achieving with these delays? I will say that if the issue is not resolved, one day those buildings will simply collapse, and the first ones responsible will be those who obstruct the implementation of the project,” he declared.
