Turkey May Be Held Accountable: UN

The UN Human Rights Office has reiterated the need for Turkey to adhere to international legal norms amid its military operation "Peace Spring" in northeastern Syria, as reported by ermenihaber.am.

The UN statement reads: "According to international human rights law and international humanitarian law, mass executions are serious violations and can be classified as war crimes. Turkey, as a state, may be held liable for violations committed by groups associated with it." The UN cited various videos shared on social media regarding the assassinations of Kurdish political figure Hevrin Khalaf and members of the Syrian Democratic Forces and added that it is gathering information concerning mass punitive actions.
