US Investment in Gaza's Development to Be Limited to Participation in the Peace Council

Washington's investment in Gaza's development will be limited to the participation of the "Peace Council" in the governance of Gaza after the war. US President Donald Trump announced this during an interview with Fox News.

"We will have a 'Peace Council.' You've heard about it, and I have been asked to preside over it. That's what I needed. That’s enough," the US president stated.

He responded to reporters' questions regarding Washington's plans to assist in the development of the Gaza Strip.

On October 9, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had signed agreements concerning the first phase of the peace plan for Gaza. The American leader explained that this means the "very quick" release of all hostages and a withdrawal of Israeli troops from agreed lines. A ceasefire went into effect the next day, on October 10.

This morning, the Times of Israel reported that Hamas militants attacked Israeli forces in the southern Gaza city of Rafah. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted airstrikes in the area.

Earlier, the US had predicted a violation of the ceasefire by Hamas.
