Russian Hackers Breach Eight UK Military Databases
Hackers operating on behalf of Russia have reportedly infiltrated several UK military databases, stealing personal data of Ministry of Defence employees in the process, according to the Daily Mirror, citing sources.
“Russian hackers are believed to have stolen documents containing the names and email addresses of personnel from eight bases of the RAF and Royal Navy and posted this information on the dark web,” the report notes.
Among the targeted cyberattacks was the RAF Lakenheath base in Suffolk, which houses American F-35 fighter jets and is reportedly linked to nuclear weapons.
Earlier, the Russian embassy had warned the United Kingdom about the consequences of the militarization of cyberspace.
