The Rector of the Pedagogical University Will Not Be Arrested

The rector of the Pedagogical University, Srbuhi Gevorgyan, will not be arrested, as the court has rejected the investigator's request for detention. Three alternative measures have been chosen instead. This was stated to 24News by one of Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan's defenders, Karen Gabrielyan, who added that Ms. Gevorgyan denies the charges against her, asserting that she has no connection to the allegations presented against her.

According to Sputnik Armenia's information, a bail will be applied as a precautionary measure against the rector. It is worth noting that in response to a query from 24News, the Anti-Corruption Committee confirmed that both the rector and the pro-rector of the Khachatur Abovian Armenian State Pedagogical University had been arrested within the framework of a criminal investigation conducted by the Committee.

They are accused of creating and leading a criminal organization composed of various university employees, committing embezzlement and fraud in particularly large amounts, and receiving bribes. Several other university employees have also been arrested as part of the criminal proceedings.
