Over $7 Million Seized from Georgian Opposition Figures' Homes
The State Security Service of Georgia has released detailed information regarding the searches conducted yesterday at the homes of former high-ranking officials. These searches involved Irakli Garibashvili, Grigol Liluashvili, Otar Parstkhalaadze, Romeo Mikautadze, Mikheil Chokheli, Vano and Tornike Parkauli, Sandro Liluashvili, and members of their families, as reported by Georgia Online.
As a result of these actions, the State Security Service stated that a total of $7,022,200 and 136,000 GEL in cash were confiscated from various locations. The searches were conducted on a nationwide scale, starting from 10 AM, covering 24 apartments and residential buildings. Personal searches were also performed.
These operations took place in Tbilisi as well as in the regions of Dedoplistskaro, Vani, Chokhatauri, and Borjomi. A total of 230 employees from the Prosecutor's Office and the State Security Service of Georgia participated in these actions.
As a result, besides the cash, various items were confiscated, including 198 pieces of jewelry and watches, valuable paintings, several thousand pages of documents, 50 mobile phones, and 119 electronic devices.
