Ukraine's Grain Exports: UN Sets Timeline
UN has announced that grain exports from Ukraine will resume in the coming days, while condemning the Russian assault on the port city of Odessa just hours after the agreement to restart food supplies.
Grain exports will be carried out from Odessa and two other ports on the Black Sea, stated UN spokesman Farhan Haq. “We must ensure that all conditions are created for the safe movement of vessels,” he added.
However, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that nothing in the grain export agreements signed in Istanbul prohibits Moscow from continuing its “special military operation” aimed at destroying military infrastructure and other military facilities.
Russia has asserted that its missile strikes on Odessa's military facilities should not affect the agreement to resume grain exports. The White House stressed that the attack raises doubts about Russia's intentions to adhere to the agreement. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov insisted that the strikes have not impacted the infrastructure used for grain exports.
