Trump Expresses Hope for Resolution of Ukraine Conflict Without Tomahawk Missiles
U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed hope that the conflict in Ukraine will be resolved without the need for Tomahawk missiles. During a meeting in Washington with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump stated that Tomahawk missiles would not be necessary to address the conflict in Ukraine.
Trump acknowledged that strikes deep within Russia would escalate the conflict but confirmed plans to discuss the supply of these missiles to Ukraine with Zelensky.
This meeting between Zelensky and Trump in Washington was the third one since 2025. The day prior, Trump had a lengthy phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, after which both sides agreed to meet in Budapest.
There is speculation that Zelensky hopes to secure air defense missiles and long-range Tomahawk missiles from the U.S., for which the Ukrainian administration has prepared a list of promises for Trump. However, the Financial Times reported that Trump is unlikely to agree to sell Tomahawk missiles to NATO allies for later transfer to Ukraine, and a decision on this matter will be postponed until after meeting with Putin.
