Catholicos Aram I Addresses the Arrests of Clergy

Several months ago, His Holiness Aram I publicly condemned the arrests of clergy and called for their cessation via intermediaries. During his current pastoral visit, he continues to closely monitor developments and reaffirms his condemnation. This is noted in a statement released by the Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia.

“Trusting Archbishop Shahan Sarkisian, who is currently in Armenia on a cultural mission, His Holiness has ensured that his concerns and strong objections are directly communicated to state and political leaders, including the Prime Minister. Catholicos Aram I emphasized the urgent need to restore healthy church-state relations, highlighting that the highest interests of the nation demand a robust and cooperative partnership between these two fundamental pillars of Armenian society,” the statement reads.
