What Was Seized During the Raids in the Aragatsotn Diocese
Early this morning, the investigative body, accompanied by representatives of law enforcement, conducted searches in the personal homes of clergymen in the Aragatsotn diocese, the diocesan headquarters, and the residences of several secular employees. Lawyer Ara Zohrapyan mentioned this in a conversation with reporters.
“Various types of documents, computers, including those belonging to family members of a secular employee, have been seized. Their phones have also been confiscated, and they have effectively been brought here. Apart from the diocese leader, Bishop Mkrtich, the remaining six clergymen and several secular employees, including a treasurer, a clerk, and an accountant, are here as well. We have not been informed about the whereabouts of Bishop Mkrtich. Moreover, we have officially applied to the investigative committee and the Yerevan investigative department, presenting documents confirming our authority and requesting to ensure our meeting with Bishop Mkrtich, considering the protection of his rights. The investigators said that they did not take us into custody; they invited us, but they brought us in their cars and we had no alternative but to comply, essentially being taken into custody,” said the lawyer.
