Spartakyan Confirms He Was Dismissed for Supporting Samvel Karapetyan

The former Honorary Consul of Armenia in Yekaterinburg, Narek Spartakyan, is currently outside the courthouse where the motion for the extension of Samvel Karapetyan's detention is being considered. Spartakyan has confirmed that he was dismissed from his position for supporting Samvel Karapetyan, the head of the Tashir Group of Companies.

He was asked not to express his opinion or to resign. "I have been working since 2018 until last year. I do not work with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but with the Russian Embassy. I received a call from the Russian Embassy 1-2 days after Samvel Karapetyan's arrest, asking if I agreed with this opinion. I said yes, I do agree, and I am confident that all employees of the Russian Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs share this opinion. They simply said it was for this reason. I am not very active on social media; I posted twice, went to Echmiadzin, and I don’t know what the reason is, but this is what happened," Spartakyan detailed.

According to him, many diplomats share the same position regarding Samvel Karapetyan's detention but are afraid to express themselves.

Earlier, we reported that a large crowd has gathered in the yard of the Anti-Corruption Court, waiting for a decision regarding Samvel Karapetyan.
