Samvel Karapetyan's Imprisonment Reveals the Fears of the Current Government, Says Robert Amsterdam

The Azerbaijani government is after two Armenian billionaires: Ruben Vardanyan and Samvel Karapetyan. This was stated by lawyer Robert Amsterdam during a press conference held in Yerevan.

"Samvel Karapetyan's imprisonment shows the fears of the current authorities," he noted.

"Until June 17, Samvel Karapetyan was not even involved in the criminal proceedings as a witness, and suddenly the insecure prime minister, clearly frightened by internal circumstances, launches an attack on a man who was participating in a religious ceremony in memory of his father, and he is imprisoned by a brutal regime," Amsterdam stated.

"The irresponsible behavior of the Armenian government cannot be sustainable, and we will take this case not only to international courts but also to all those who are capable of exerting pressure and influencing this government to release political prisoners," the lawyer added.
