According to All Criteria Developed by the PACE, Samvel Karapetyan is a Political Prisoner: Edmon Marukyan

Businessman Samvel Karapetyan's new charges are completely disconnected from reality and have been made to extend his detention for another two months. This was stated by Edmon Marukyan, the leader of the "Enlightened Armenia" party, during a conversation with journalists near the Anti-Corruption Court.

The politician lacks optimism that the court will make a different decision today, as he believes that the executive power stands over the judicial and legal system.

"If the Prime Minister can dismiss the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council via SMS, it means that the Chairman is effectively under his control, and it also means that he leads the investigative bodies and all state institutions that should be independent by nature," said Marukyan.

According to him, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's posts from June 17 alone are sufficient evidence for this case to be lost by the Republic of Armenia in the European Court of Human Rights.

Marukyan emphasized that Samvel Karapetyan is a political prisoner, and this is not just his assertion but is confirmed by all criteria established by the PACE.
