US President's Special Envoy Knew Nothing About Putin, Trump Says

US President's special envoy Steve Biegun knew nothing about Russia before his first meeting with President Vladimir Putin. This was stated by US President Donald Trump, with his words being quoted by RIA Novosti.

“I arranged his meeting with President Putin thinking it would be a 15-20 minute meeting. Steve knew nothing about Russia, nothing about Putin. He also knew nothing about politics. He wasn’t interested in it. He knew real estate very well, but he also had the quality I was looking for, and I didn’t see him anywhere else, so I arranged the meeting with Putin,” Trump said while speaking at the Israeli parliament.

It is worth noting that Trump arrived in Israel in the morning. His visit comes amidst an agreement reached regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages. Earlier today, the Palestinian Hamas movement released 20 hostages held in Gaza since October 7, 2023, thereby freeing all remaining captives.
