Turkish Military Presence in Gaza May Ease Tensions Between Turkey and Israel

The presence of Turkish soldiers in Gaza could help mitigate tensions between Turkey and Israel, as the Middle East enters the final phase of significant transformation. This assessment was presented by Turkish political scientist and leading expert of the Ankara-Moscow Analytical Network, Engin Ozeri, in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Abdullah Güler, the head of the parliamentary group of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), informed that Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defense, and intelligence services are discussing the details of a potential deployment of Turkish forces to Gaza. After these consultations, the parliament may discuss President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's proposal, although the process is still in its initial phase.

“Since the presence of Turkish soldiers in Gaza would require direct communication with Israel, a reduction in tensions between the two countries can be anticipated. At a time when the risk of conflict between Turkey and Israel is being discussed in Syria, such interaction could yield positive results,” noted the agency source.
