Judge Commits Significant Violation Upon Receipt of Materials: Samvel Karapetyan's Legal Team

On October 13, 2025, at the end of the working day, we were informed by the Anti-Corruption Court that the request to extend the detention of national benefactor and businessman Samvel Karapetyan has been assigned to judge V. Dolmazhyan. This was announced by Samvel Karapetyan's legal team.

“It should be noted that the inquiry was submitted on October 11, and it took this long to find a candidate for assignment. The judge, to whom this evidently unfounded request has been assigned, is known to the public as a judge who consistently makes decisions favorable to the authorities in high-profile cases. More notably, upon receiving the materials, the judge has already committed a significant violation by scheduling a hearing in less than 24 hours. Incidentally, the question of urgency was completely absent in this case, as the detention period expires on October 18,” the statement reads.

“These actions are beyond any legal reasoning. The undeniable fact of political persecution against Samvel Karapetyan has been established; such egregious violations of rights are evident and unprecedented.”
