Iran Rejects Invitation to Peace Conference
The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that they received an invitation to participate in the peace summit in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, aimed at halting the war in the Gaza Strip.
During a government meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated that Egypt had invited Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to attend the "Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit," and they responded negatively.
Araghchi mentioned that later, they received an invitation to participate at the level of foreign ministers. It remains unclear whether Iran will attend the summit.
On the other hand, a statement from the Egyptian presidency stated that more than 20 leaders would participate in the summit, including U.S. President Donald Trump.
Donald Trump announced he would first travel to Israel and then to Egypt on Monday, following an agreement on the first phase of a ceasefire in Gaza.
American media reported that Trump intends to turn his visit to Egypt into a leaders' summit to discuss a peace plan for Gaza, with 11 countries' leaders expected to attend the summit.
