VIDEO. We Don’t Need a Puppet Court. Why Has Pashinyan Decided to Block the Entrances and Exits of Courts?
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed the "For an Independent Court" action via a Facebook live stream.
Pashinyan emphasized that the actions of the participants blocking the entrances and exits of courts should not provoke any reactions: "We will not be provoked, but nothing holds us back from truly making our country a legal and democratic state. I assure you that I will follow this path; I will not back down in front of anything."
The Prime Minister also stated that the police should support the gathering as it is peaceful in nature: "According to the Constitution, the police should ensure peaceful gatherings."
Pashinyan noted during the live stream that he has invited senior officials to a meeting to discuss further steps and to gain a better understanding of the situation. He indicated that he would announce the next steps following his speech tomorrow at 12:00 PM.
“Never think that I am afraid; perhaps my working style is such that not everyone agrees with it. I sometimes like to be convinced until the very end, giving others the chance for things to proceed without my interference or the interference of the people. However, when we see that all possibilities have been exhausted, we must act. But it must be in accordance with the Constitution and international law. Our ultimate goal should be to have a truly independent judicial system. I believe in our ideal and am confident that we will achieve it,” he said.
The Prime Minister reminded that from the first day he has stated that the Government does not need a puppet court: “Here I put an end to it, and I will say the rest during tomorrow’s speech.”
It should be noted that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced on his Facebook page that they will block the entrances and exits of the courts of the Republic tomorrow morning.
