Erdogan Wanted to Withdraw from Gaza Peace Summit Due to Netanyahu

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had initially wanted to withdraw from participating in the Gaza peace summit in Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh due to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This was reported by the Turkish publication 'Milat,' noting that a significant diplomatic incident occurred following the Egyptian president's announcement regarding Netanyahu's participation. As Erdogan's plane was preparing to land at Sharm El Sheikh airport, it missed the runway.

According to sources, Erdogan informed the Egyptian side of his decision to withdraw from the summit if Netanyahu was present. After this communication, Netanyahu's name was removed from the summit's agenda. Only after this did Erdogan's plane land.

It is noteworthy that this morning, the Israeli Prime Minister's office indeed announced Netanyahu's planned participation in the summit, despite earlier stating that the Israeli side would not attend. Several hours later, however, news emerged that Netanyahu would not be attending. The official explanation given was that Israel was celebrating the religious holiday of 'Simchat Torah.'
