Increase in Commercial Fishing Quota for Whitefish

In order to regulate the use of biological resources and sustainable management in Lake Sevan, the government has adopted a decision. According to the justification, to assess the status of fish stocks, including commercial stocks, a scientific study was conducted by a research center in July 2025. As a result, it has been proposed to set the commercial fishing quota for whitefish at 620 tons until the fishing ban.

Accordingly, a change is being implemented, which will increase the commercial fishing quota for whitefish by an additional 620 tons. As a result, the allowable amount of commercial whitefish fishing in Lake Sevan for the entire fishing season of 2025 will be 1,123 tons.
