EU Countries Under Pressure, Says Zakharova
Maria Zakharova, spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has stated that EU countries are under pressure, including from within, to abandon Russian energy supplies and become 100% Anglo-Saxon. “There is enormous pressure on EU countries, including through authorized persons who found themselves in Brussels, acting not in the interests of other external players, but directly against the interests of the citizens of EU member states. One of the aims is for the European Union and Western Europe to be completely under the control of the Western world,” she told reporters at the Saint Petersburg International Gas Forum while commenting on the prospects of the EU abandoning Russian energy supplies.
She added that Europe needs sovereignty, which, among other things, is ensured by energy sovereignty, and Russia has always supplied them with fuel.
