Shiveluch Volcano Erupts in Kamchatka
The Shiveluch volcano in Kamchatka has released a plume of ash rising 5 kilometers above sea level.
"The eruptions have raised ash to an altitude of 5.4 kilometers above sea level. The ash cloud has spread 25 kilometers to the east-northeast of the volcano," the Kamchatka Volcanic Eruptions Response Team announced.
According to a joint study by scientists from the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the computational center of the same branch, the ash plume from the Shiveluch volcano is expected to spread over the Bering Sea.
