Gender-Based Abortions Remain a Concern: Human Rights Defender
The Human Rights Defender, Anaht Manasyan, addressed the issue of gender-based artificial abortions, stating that despite the measures taken, these abortions continue to pose a serious and concerning problem for our society from the perspective of human rights protection and gender equality.
“The reasons behind this phenomenon are diverse—gender-based stereotypes, a prevailing preference for having male children, as well as pressures within the family and the community. It is essential to understand that many people around us are facing this issue, and it has a profound and painful impact on their lives. Unfortunately, we often overlook these individuals, their emotions, and experiences. We must not only fight against the phenomenon of gender-based abortions but also promote public awareness, showing those who have survived this problem that they are not alone. Initiatives of this kind are of exceptional importance in this context, as they encourage a shift in public thinking and strengthen the culture of human rights protection,” the defender stated.
