Ukraine Intervenes in Hungary's Upcoming Parliamentary Elections: Szijjártó

The Ukrainian authorities are intervening in Hungary's parliamentary elections scheduled for 2026, attempting to bring to power the Hungarian opposition that supports Ukraine's membership in the European Union, stated Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó.

“If anyone had doubts about whether Ukrainians would intervene in next year’s parliamentary elections in Hungary, they should have seen for themselves that Ukrainians are extremely interested in influencing the outcome of the elections in Hungary,” Szijjártó said in a video message posted on Facebook.

The minister described this as “unexpected,” noting that “Ukrainians, like everyone else, know that if the national government remains in power, the decisions of the Hungarian government will be solely in accordance with Hungary's national interests, and in that case, Ukraine will not be a member of the European Union.”
